Leopard Nails

These are my current nails. They were meant to be leopard print...I don't think they worked too well but I quite like them anyway. I can just pretend they're abstract! :)

I was going to add a different colour inside the print but couldn't decide which to use and then forgot. What colour would you use? I've done a similar print on a pinky base with gold spots which worked quite well.

The base coat looks a lot more like the colour in the second photo. It's called "caramel cupcake". I just think the name is so cute. I love things with a good name!

I'm back!!

So I haven't posted on here in a month. A whole month! How ridiculous. In my defence I have been pretty busy though, not just with work but also doing lots of travelling. Just for weekends away which have been a nice break from being here alone. I've also been working down in Essex for part of last week. It was strange being in a hotel on my own.
I've also been painting my nails, of course, but I keep forgetting to take photos. Silly old me. One of my favourite nail polishes I've worn recently was a coral one that I used a matte top on. I loved the effect, they looked weirdly soft and I couldn't stop stroking them. :)
Anyway, just a quick update so you know I'm still here!
I should be posting some nail photos today so look forward to that.

Dot Gradient Tutorial

So I've been told I should do some more tutorials and I realised I've had this one done but not uploaded for a while. This is actually the first gif tutorial I made but I wasn't too happy with it and was planning to redo it. I haven't bothered with that so I hope you can cope with this jumpy messy tutorial.

For this nail art you will need two nail polish colours and a small dotting tool.
I used a toothpick.

1. Paint the whole nail with the first colour.
2. Place some of the second colour onto a piece of paper and dip in the toothpick.
3. Make small dots all over the nail but ensure they are well spaced out. You will need to keep re-dipping the toothpick to keep it well covered in polish.
4. On the top three-quarters of the nail make more dots so that they are slightly denser.
5. Keep adding more dots towards the top of the nail until your desired gradient effect if achieved.
6. Cover with a top coat to seal the design and you're done!

I usually try to fill in the tip of the nail completely so it is just the second colour. Also, If you find you've added too many dots you can go back in the with first colour on the other end of the toothpick. I used that technique on the nail below when I'd added too much blue towards the base of the nail.

Furry Friends Nails

I finally have painted nails again! I went on a mad shopping spree in superdrug and one of the things I bought was a new coral nail polish. I just had that on today but then I fancied adding something. This is what I came up with. How do you like my little friends? :)

Marbled Nails

So seeing as my nails are currently boring and bare I thought I'd post some I did a while ago.
These are done with a pinky/red/coraly colour and a purple. Can you guess how they're done?
It is a surprisingly simple technique. :)

The ring fingers have gradients because I was a tad obsessed with ring finger gradients at the time. I wish I hadn't done them though, I think it would have looked better all the same.

Ooh fuzzy fuzzy picture. And what's that I spy, a chipped nail?! Uncool!

New Job

I've started my job this week and it's been very exciting so far! Unfortunately it's meant I've had clean boring unpolished nails. :O Shock horror!!!

When taking off my last lot of nail art I couldn't help photographing what was left on my cotton pad. The entire design came off pretty much intact! I've noticed this a few times and it always amuses me. It only happens if I hold the pad still on my nail for a while and then take it off in a smooth motion. I hope it amuses you slightly too. :)

Stripy Red Nails

The other day my best friend was wearing a lovely red top (shown below) and immediately I told her I wanted to copy it on my nails. I promised I'd dedicate the post to her so Ami, this is for you! :)

These just have a red base with the black pattern added on top with a striper brush.

The top is a lot more red that it has come out in this photo. I really need to start taking these photos with my camera rather than my phone!
